Meduza’s “No” art exhibition, which opened in Berlin on April 26, is drawing to a close this weekend. Over the past two and a half months, more than 400 people took part in our curatorial tours and we received 2,000 handwritten notes from visitors in exchange for just as many Navalny figurines. We’ve hosted panel discussions, meet-and-greets with the authors of books published by Meduza, and even a friendship speed dating event. And this is on top of the fact that the art exhibition itself was open to the public every day, drawing in visitors interested in learning about how war and dictatorship reshape lives. “No” ends this Sunday, on the evening of July 6, and we want to spend this last week with you, Meduza’s supporters. So whether you’re joining us at the Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien gallery or just in spirit, here’s how to take part in the exhibition’s farewell week.

July 4: A farewell party featuring Aigel

On Friday, the electronic hip-hop duo Aigel will perform at our closing event for “No.” Like the exhibition, the concert is free, and registration filled up within 24 hours. But since life happens and plans change, we have a small request: if you can’t make it to the closing night show, please cancel your registration! That way we can give your spot to someone on our waiting list.

To join the waitlist for this event, sign up here. And be sure to follow us on Instagram for announcements and updates.

If you have any questions, email us at [email protected]. The exhibition will also be open late on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

July 5 and July 6: Last-chance curatorial tours

There are still spots available on both of our final curator-led tours, but we recommend that you sign up before it’s too late. The curators will walk a small group of visitors through the exhibition and share insight into why an exiled media outlet embarked upon this project, how the artists and their works were selected, and the importance of discussing freedom of speech today.

This week only: The last Navalny figurine drop

Spanish artist Fernando Sánchez Castillo created the Expanded Memorial for Alexey Navalny especially for the “No” exhibition. The installation allows visitors to take home a miniature figurine of the late opposition politician in exchange for sharing a handwritten note about what resistance means to them.

Unsurprisingly, the memorial has been one of the most popular artworks at the “No” exhibition. We’ve given out 2,000 Navalny figurines already and another drop is on its way to Berlin as we speak. In the coming days, you’ll be able to swing by the gallery to leave a note and pick up your very own pocket-sized monument.

If getting a souvenir from the Navalny memorial is an important part of your planned visit, email us at [email protected] so we can set aside a figurine for you while quantities last.
