French photojournalist Antoni Lallican was killed in a Russian drone strike in eastern Ukraine on October 3. The attack wounded four others, including Ukrainian photojournalist Georgiy Ivanchenko, who had to have his leg amputated. The two journalists had been accompanying the Ukrainian army’s 4th Mechanized Brigade near Komyshuvakha, a village in the Donetsk region roughly 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) from the front line. Lallican, 37, was an experienced war photographer who had covered conflicts in Nagorno-Karabakh, Israel, Lebanon, and Syria. Meduza shares his photos capturing Russia’s war against Ukraine.
